During the past few decades, significant advances have been made in Western medicine, resulting in revolutionary medical technologies such as CAT, PET and MRI scans. These tools make it possible to depict the smallest detail of any organ in the human body.
Today, many diseases can be detected in a fairly early stage. In the not too distant future, it will probably be possible to predict what diseases a person will be suffering from in his lifetime. This will be based on DNA (the genetic material) research. Certain types of diseases, such as breast cancer, can already be predicted in this manner.
Even though ways of predicting and detecting disease have greatly evolved, the situation with respect to available medical therapies is quite different.
The incidence of diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular complaints, allergies, arthritis, AIDS, etc. is on the rise, and so are the costs of general health care. The use of medication plays a major treatment role, with pharmaceutical companies relentlessly approaching doctors and their patients to promote their newest and "best" products. More than half the patients who go to see their GP leave with a prescription. The positive effects of prescription medication (which are sometimes marginal or even non-existent) are often overshadowed by considerable side effects.
So the question is: Is the current health care system not clearly seeing the total picture? We are convinced it is not.
The Amsterdam Kliniek utilizes healing methods aimed at fighting disease in a natural way and promoting health without incurring damaging side effects. When needed, conventional therapies are integrated.
